Hugo would help us, so we drove to the pousada and Hugo helped us find the pousada in Setubal. Little did we know but Hugo had worked at that pousada for many years before going to Palmela. Thank you Hugo! The paintings and decorations at Palmela are very modern mix and enjoyable. The rooms are comfortable and if you’re lucky enough to get a room overlooking the city of Setubal at night, it’s beautiful. The dining room and food are terrific and I have to say that I really haven’t been disappointed at any of the meals that we have had here. All the food is fresh and the seafood is very good. There is the castle next door which is in pieces but fun to explore. The church, which is attached to the pousada, is really interesting as are the shops and small museum. The town of Palmela has some little shops selling fresh cheese and wine from the area.
